(NASA) TESS Finds its Smallest Planet Yet

The American Planet and Space Agency (NASA) TESS explores the smallest planet so far, 35 light-years away from Earth.

In an article published in The Astronomical Journal, the new planet, called the L 98-59B, is the smallest planet ever discovered by NASA's TESS, the next planet's reconnaissance satellite.

In the article, L 98-59B is one of the three new planets discovered by TESS underlined, the planet has a mass smaller than the Earth Mars has been recorded.

Planet Earth, 35 million light-years away from the world L 98-59 star system because it is located next to the name L 98-59B said.

The smallest planet discovered outside the Solar System remains Kepler-37-b, which is still detected by the Kepler Space Telescope.

NASA in October last year, Kepler run out of fuel, 9-year exploration journey in deep space, then announced that the end of science operations.

The TESS satellite was launched by NASA on September 18, 2018 with SpaceX-produced Falcon 9 rockets. The satellite is scheduled to seek evidence of other planets in nearby star systems outside the Solar System during its two-year exploration.

TESS is trying to detect other planets in a position called "transitions." "Transition" refers to the moment when a star orbiting another planet passes in front of it. Scientists are now able to determine the mass, core mass and atmospheric composition of the planets by measuring the amount of light emitted and absorbed, observing the reduction in the brightness of the star reflected in the cameras.
